Special Education at Eastern
Eastern has been consistently recognized as one of the top Secondary Special Education (SPED) Programs in DCPS. We currently have three full-time programs for students with special needs that are diagnosed under the Autism Spectrum (2) and (1) ID Program. Students with disabilities also receive related services to include: Speech and Language, Social Emotional, Adaptive Physical Education, Occupational Therapy, Audiology and Assistive Technology.
The Eastern SPED population consists of students with varied disabilities to include: SLD, ID, ED, OHI, MD, SLI, and Autism. Additionally, many of our students compete in the Special Olympics, are involved in extra-curricular school activities, and are active in the community when possible.
